This course provides 12 hours of live hands-on continuing education and fulfills the Florida Board of Massage requirement.
What is Hot Stone Massage?
Renowned for its healing and relaxing properties, Hot Stone Massage is an ancient medicine that has been practiced for centuries. This specialty massage uses smooth, heated stones. The heat transferring from the stones helps to calm and relax the muscles, increasing blood flow.
Hot Stone Massage can benefit both the client and the therapist. The hardness of the stone itself assists in deep tissue massage, and the warmth and pressure from the stone creates less stress on the joints of the therapist’s hands. Massage therapists will find that heated stones may help reduce the overuse injuries overall that many bodyworkers face.
After taking this course, you will understand the many applications, benefits, and safety precautions of hot stone massage. This course will prepare you to perform a full body hot stone massage, as well as teach the proper protocol in keeping your clients safe and comfortable. Additionally, we will reference how to use the stones to treat for injuries such as: medial and lateral epicondylitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, iliotibial band syndrome, headaches and sinus discomfort. Maintenance and proper stone care, cleanliness and sanitary storage will also be covered in this workshop.
This class will give you the skills, technique and safety information you need to implement this treatment immediately with your clients. You and your client will experience the benefits and effects of Hot Stone Therapy.
Come learn this deeply relaxing, and highly requested therapeutic treatment technique. This course will be held at the Gainesville School of Medical Massage and class size is limited to ensure each student receives personalized attention from the instructors.
